The Ötztal
Right at the entrance to the Ötztal, you can walk comfortably and in great conditions: the easy cross-country trail in Ochsengarten leads along snow-covered, meter-high spruce forests and clearings towards Kühtai. We continue into the valley. Umhausen-Niederthai is considered the mecca of cross-country skiing in the Ötztal. 12 rounds in different levels of difficulty in front of a brilliant landscape backdrop justify this status.
The generous loops of over 40 kilometers along the wide valley floor in Längenfeld show a completely different Ötztal - expansive and gentle. The view is directed from the white fields into the valley up to the Gamskogel, the majestic local mountain of the Längenfelder. Also a nature experience: Glide along the narrow boards along the Sulztal in Gries.
From here it goes high up into the mountains. Hard to believe, but true, passionate runners even find their routes in Sölden, Vent and Obergurgl-Hochgurgl. There is a full snow guarantee. Because even though it's already spring in the valley, the athletes can still do their laps.
Our tip for true fans: the night trails in Längenfeld, Umhausen and Niederthai. Längenfeld and Niederthai even offer a free trial biathlon where everyone can try their hand at the shooting range. Here you will find the detailed cross-country skiing routes including information about duration, route and elevation profile.
Whether classic or skating, it's easy on well-groomed routes. Cross-country skiers in the Ötztal make another discovery: all cross-country ski trails and public transport there are available free of charge. The right equipment is available from the sports rental store, and a wide range of courses ensures the right technique.
